What Indian document do you need for UAE?

Step 1 of 4

What Indian document needs UAE authentication?

India → UAE: before and after 2021

Before March 2021 HRD → MEA → UAE Embassy → UAE MOFA
8–12 weeks
After March 2021 (current) HRD (if education) → MEA Apostille
2–4 weeks

Who needs this service?

💼 Indian professionals in the UAE

Indians are the largest expatriate community in the UAE — over 3 million people. Since 2021, UAE no longer requires the old Indian attestation chain (HRD → MEA → UAE Embassy → UAE MOFA). MEA apostille is now the standard. This saves weeks and significant cost.

🏥 Indian healthcare workers (DHA / HAAD / MOH)

Indian doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers need authenticated credentials for Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Abu Dhabi Health Authority (HAAD), or Ministry of Health (MOH) licensing. MEA apostille + Arabic translation is the current standard.

🏢 Indian business owners in UAE free zones

Indian entrepreneurs registering in UAE free zones need apostilled corporate documents. MEA apostille (with HRD for educational credentials of directors) is the current requirement for most UAE free zones.

How the process works

1

We confirm whether MEA apostille alone or MEA apostille + MOFA attestation is needed. The UAE 2021 change simplified things significantly for Indian nationals.

2

For degree certificates and transcripts, state HRD attestation is required before MEA apostille. We coordinate via our India partner network.

3

We obtain the MEA apostille through authorized agencies in India. This is typically the final authentication step for UAE.

4

Certified Arabic translation is arranged as needed. Your apostilled + translated documents are delivered ready for UAE submission.

Frequently asked questions

Does UAE still require the old 4-step Indian attestation chain?

No. Before March 2021, Indian documents for UAE needed HRD → MEA → UAE Embassy → UAE MOFA (4 steps, 8–12 weeks). Since UAE joined the Hague Convention, MEA apostille is accepted as the complete authentication for most UAE purposes. The chain is now HRD (if education) → MEA apostille — significantly faster and cheaper.

Does the UAE MOFA still need to attest Indian documents?

For most purposes, no. UAE MOFA attestation is no longer required for documents carrying a valid MEA apostille. However, some specific UAE government authorities have been slow to fully implement the 2021 change. We assess your specific UAE purpose and advise if MOFA attestation is still needed.

Does UAE still require Arabic translation of Indian documents?

Yes. While apostille handles the authentication step, UAE authorities still commonly require certified Arabic translation for employment visa applications, free zone business registration, and official proceedings. We provide MEA apostille + Arabic translation packages.

How much time does the India → UAE process take now?

HRD attestation (if educational): 1–2 weeks. MEA apostille: 3–5 business days. Arabic translation: 2–3 days (concurrent). Total: approximately 2–4 weeks. Much faster than the previous 8–12 week chain.

Can Indian NRIs (non-resident Indians) in UAE initiate the process without visiting India?

Yes. We coordinate the entire India-based process through our India partner network. Original documents can be handled in India by an authorized representative. You do not need to physically visit India to process documents for UAE submission.
