Since 2021, UAE employment visas require apostilled US documents — not the old consular legalization chain. This is significantly faster and cheaper. Background checks, diplomas, and professional certifications from US institutions need apostille and often Arabic translation.
American companies registering in Dubai or Abu Dhabi free zones need apostilled corporate documents. Since 2021, a US apostille from the Secretary of State or US State Dept. is the standard route. Some free zones may still request additional MOFA attestation.

An apostille is a certificate attached to or affixed on the document — it is not country-specific. The same apostille issued for, say, Spain, is also valid for UAE submission. However, if the apostille is on a separate page or sticker, ensure the original document and apostille are kept together.
